GetAwayyy is a free email alert list run by DesignButter LLC ("GetAwayyy", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use getawayyy.com and our emails, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect your email address and very little else, we never sell it, and you can leave with one click.
What we collect
What you give us. Your email address when you sign up. If you choose to set optional preferences, we also keep those (for example, whether you only want trips you can drive to and which state you live in).
What we record automatically.
- The date and time you signed up, confirmed, changed preferences, or unsubscribed.
- Which alert emails we sent you, and whether you clicked a link in one. We use this to see which deals people care about and to stop sending to addresses that bounce.
- Where the signup came from (for example, the home page or a specific deal page).
- Your IP address at the moment you sign up, kept briefly in memory to stop abuse (repeated signups from one network). We do not store it with your account.
- Standard server logs (page requested, time, browser type) that our hosting provider keeps for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for your name, phone number, payment details, or exact location. We do not use advertising trackers, social media pixels, or third-party analytics on our site. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and our list is meant for adults. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the address.
How we use it
- To send you a confirmation email so we know the address is really yours (double opt-in).
- To send you alert emails when a place on our watch list drops in price.
- To send occasional service notices about the list itself (for example, if we change these policies or stop the service).
- To see which deals and which places people respond to, so we can watch better ones.
- To keep the list healthy: removing bounced addresses, honoring unsubscribes, and blocking abuse.
We do not use your information for anything else. We do not build profiles about you, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similar effects on you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or any other personal information. We never share your preferences with the places we write about. The only parties that handle your data are the services we use to run the list:
- Email delivery. The email provider that sends our messages sees your address so it can deliver them, and reports back whether the message bounced.
- Hosting. Our website and database run on a cloud hosting provider, which stores the data on our behalf.
These providers may only use your data to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of GetAwayyy (in which case this policy would still apply to your data).
When you click a link in an alert, you leave our site and go to the supplier's own website. Their privacy policy applies there, not ours.
Affiliate links
We do not currently earn commissions on bookings. If that ever changes, we will say so in the email that contains the link, and it will never change the price you pay or which deals we send.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address and preferences for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe we stop sending immediately and keep your address on a suppression list so we do not accidentally email you again. If you ask us to delete your data entirely, we remove the address and everything tied to it within 30 days, except what we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. It works instantly and never asks for a password.
- Change preferences. Every email has a secure link to your preferences page.
- Access, correct, or delete. Email hello@getawayyy.com and we will tell you what we hold about your address, fix it, or delete it. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge for this.
- Do Not Track. Our site does not track you across other sites, so there is nothing to opt out of; we treat every visitor the same.
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law (such as California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, or others), you may have additional rights under that law. We honor the requests above for everyone, regardless of where you live. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.
Security
We use secure, unguessable links for confirming, changing preferences, and unsubscribing, so you never need a password. Our site uses HTTPS. Only the people who run GetAwayyy can access the subscriber list. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never happen, but we keep what we hold small so there is little to lose.
Where the data lives
GetAwayyy is based in the United States and our services are hosted in the United States. If you sign up from elsewhere, your data will be processed here.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email. Continuing to stay subscribed after that means you accept the updated policy.
